  • 0

Follow the following directions to setup your email account on your iOS device. Failing to follow these directions can have your public IP address blocked from the server.

  1. Launch the Settings app on your device.
  2. Scroll to Mail, Contacts and Calendars.
  3. At the bottom of your existing accounts, tap Add Account.
  4. At the bottom of the list of account types, tap Other.
  5. Under Mail, tap Add Mail Account.
  6. On the following screen, enter the following information:
    • Name: your name as you'd like it to appear on outgoing mail.
    • Email: the email address created for you by your provider.
    • Password: the password created for you by your provider.
    • Description: the label you would like to use for the mail account on your iOS device.
  7. On the next page, complete the fields as follows:
    • IMAP/POP: this is the communication protocol your device will use with the server. IMAP is useful if you want to keep your mail synchronized between devices/computers. Mail is saved on the server, but costs storage space. If your account is full, you will no longer recieve new mail. By default accounts are given 250MB of storage space. POP on the other hand downloads the mail to your device then deletes it from the server. You will not be able to synchronize messages using this protocol, however storage space is not usually an issue.
    • Name/Email/Label: The information you entered in step 6. You can make modifications now if necessary.
    • Incoming Mail Server
      • Host Name: mail.[yourdomain.com]
      • User Name: yourFullEmail@yourdomain.com
      • Password: the password created for you by your provider.
    • Outgoing Mail Server: [THIS SECTION IS NOT OPTIONAL AS iOS DEFINES IT, YOU MUST FILL OUT THIS INFORMATION IN ORDER TO SEND MAIL!]
    • Tap the next button at the top right.
    • Once verified, if you selected IMAP, you will be prompted to select which services you would like to keep synchronized.  We suggest you keep only Mail on. Select Save when done.
  8. Your account is now setup.

If you used IMAP follow these additional setup directions:

  1. In the account list, tap the name of the account you just created.
  2. Under IMAP tap Account.
  3. On the page that appears tap SMTP, then tap Primary Mail Server.
  4. Make sure the port for the mail server is set to 587.
  5. Tap Done.
